Anastrazole, an aromatize inhibitor is used for the treatment of advanced breast cancer in postmenopausal women those who have failed to respond to therapy with other drugs, such as tamoxifen. It works by decreasing the amount of estrogen synthesised in the body and it helps the tumors to shrink and slow down their growth. It is contraindicated in pregnancy and lactation. Trouble sleeping, tiredness, headache, vomiting, dizziness are the side effects of this medication. It is to be avoided during the intake of medicines such as tamoxifen, oestrogens because of the serious interactions that may occur.
