Vescadril-AT (Ambroxol HCl, Terbutaline Sulphate & Guaiphenesin) is an ideal combination medication used for the relief of cough which contains a mucolytic agent, an expectorant and a bronchodilator. It contains the active ingredients Ambroxol Hydrochloride 30mg, Terbutaline Sulphate 1.25mg, Guaiphenesin 50mg and Menthol 0.5 mg per 5 ml in a flavoured syrupy base.
Ambroxol is a mucolytic agent that liquifies thick tenacious sputum. It improves the mucociliary clearance of secretions. It acts by reducing the viscosity of the sputum.
Terbutaline is a bronchodilator and an active beta-2 adrenoceptor agonist. Guaiphenesin is an expectorant which acts by increasing the output of sputum and bronchial secretions by reducing the adhesiveness and surface tension. The increased flow of less viscid secretions also promotes ciliary action. Menthol produces a cooling effect on the throat.
